The results are in...

I am very thankful to the almost 5000 people that voted for our 'maverick' campaign. The overall results speak to the power of the conservative brand in Calgary. As a conservative member I am more than happy about the party's performance and look forward to Stephen Harper continued good governance. I believe that there were issues with the nomination and that's why I stood in contention. The people have spoken and I wish Mr Shory the best of luck in representing this great riding of Calgary northeast.

It's down to the wire

We've been working hard these last few weeks.

Today I was at the NE Gurudwara as well as the Hindu Temple meeting with the voters of Calgary Northeast.

The article in the Sun today underscored the worry that my conservative opponent has with my 'maverick' campaign. They know that my campaign has resonated with voters - why else would they launch the pre-recorded telephone call blitz - outsourcing it to the reluctant and weary Art Hanger? Art himself essentially acknowledged that the conservative candidate won the nomination because of 'Third World' politicking and improper tactics. Art himself criticized the nomination as 'closed'.

Unfortunately, unlike a pre-recorded call, you cannot outsource integrity. The nomination was hijacked and, in the words of Dr. Agnew, Calgary Northeast may not have the democratically elected Conservative candidate.

I see this as a positive sign - with all of the machinery behind them, my opponent has yet to connect with voters and he fears that voters will see through him and choose a candidate with an untarnished conservative past.

I look forward to the voters choice on October 14. If voters want to change the 'Third World' politicking in Calgary Northeast, then they must make their decision and vote for Roger Richard -- and they don't need to worry that the riding will go liberal - the numbers are clear and once I win, the Conservative Party of Canada can count on my support.

The Debate - Call for Devinder Shory to resign

In the face of all the irregularities and breaches of Party rules and the Elections Act, I openly called for my opponent to do the honourable task of resigning.

Sikh temple

Many of my dear friends, associates and supporters are of the Sikh faith. I will be attending at the northeast temple tomorrow morning and look forward to attending the religious observations there.

Harper interview

Watching Stephen Harper being interviewed by Peter Mansbridge. Harper is putting forward a reasoned argument in defense of his economic policies. Dion has a lot of explaining to do to justify to Canadians why another tax will be beneficial and in my opinion has not succeeded. I feel confident with Harper who is a trained economist and with the positives of the Canadian economy with a surplus of 3 billion and the creation of 100000 net new jobs as well as the strongest banking system. I know that I've talked a lot about the democratic deficit with respect to the nomination. But my loyalties remain to the conservative party.

My fundamental views and policies have not changed. The conservative government led by Stephen Harper presents the most coherent option to Canadians. The views of that party continue to be in line with my own.

Just met with Nage
Hage, president of Calgary's Muslim council and proprietor of Hages mideast foods. I was pleased to receive his support and look forward to addessing the important issues for the riding.

Press release: Where in the World is Devinder Shory?

All candidates for Calgary northeast except for Devinder Shory attended at the all candidates forum hosted by the non partisan punjabi media club last night at the northeast sportsplex.

As a result of Mr Shory's non attendance, Roger Richard is calling for an urgent investigation as to his Mr Shory's whereabouts.

'I'm getting worried. No one knows where Mr Shory is. The media have been unable to reach him.  The public has not been able to locate him. It may be time to file a missing persons report' said Roger Richard, independent conservative candidate for Calgary northeast.

If anyone has seen Mr Shory, they are urged to immediately contact the voters of Calgary northeast.

Mr Shory is about 5'9, of medium build and is extremely fearful of public debate, questions from the public and the media.  

Debate

I'm very happy with the debate. All candidates who participated got to engage the public and take questions. This is grassroots democracy and this is what the pillars of our political institutions depend upon. Accessibility. Transparency. Accountability.
I was happy to field some tough questions and hope that I have an honest accounting of myself and my qualifications and motivations to seek the candidacy. If anyone has any follow up questions I welcome email or calls to the campaign office.
