I was born in 1945 in Quebec. After school, I went to travel and work across Canada, and ended up living in Ontario, BC and the Northwest Territories. I settled in Calgary, Alberta in 1970 and started working in the taxi industry. I started my own business in 1978 with 5 taxis. Our company now has over 430 taxis and 100 limousines.
My daughter was born in 1972 and I am the proud grandfather of her two children.
I got involved in politics in 1995 during the Quebec referendum. I was involved in the "No" committee and worked with Jean Charest. I was elated but concerned with our close victory. I later joined the PC party and ran to represent Calgary East in the general elections of 1997 and 2000. In both elections I was pleased to receive the votes of many thousands of conservative voters.
I voted to support the merger of the Conservative Alliance (CA) and the Progressive Conservatives (PC) and thus became a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
At this time, I am running as an independent conservative because of the serious concerns I have over the irregularities in the Conservative nomination that saw Mr. Devinder Shory narrowly defeat Mr. Perry Cavanagh, who is my campaign manager.
I support the policies of the Conservative government and consider myself a staunch supporter of Stephen Harper. As a longstanding conservative and a businessman, I believe in reduction of taxes, tax relief for our seniors and safe communities. I am very concerned about the increase in violent crime in Calgary, and strongly support victim rights as well as reform of the criminal justice system.
I have been approached by many, many conservative members and voters and believe that it is only right that conservatives have an option in this election.
